AN ARBOR TO SCREEN A SHOEBOX

Looming shoebox beyond

This small project program included the "screening" of a new addition across a narrow alley in Newpoort Beach, California. The clients (my parents Al & Lesly) had long enjoyed a sunrise view along the bluffs of Banning Ranch until the property owner across the alley decided to predictably 'maximize his rental asset' resulting in a view and sunrise blinding "shoebox", designed by an engineer no doubt, and creating among other things a privacy issue for my parents. The solution shown here was to build a redwood arbor and allow Mother Nature to do the hard work.by providing a "soft screen" of well-established 20 year old Trumphant Vine. Through the use of layers, material and landscape the eyesore should be 85% minimized within 4 to 6 months.
